July

There is not much to tell about this summer. I watched d e e r - using all the hours of daylight from morning till late at night seven days a week. But then it was suddenly over, sooner than expected.

After an ultra sound scan showed that Madame Orange was not pregnant, Madame Rouge was the last hind to give birth in the r e d  d e e r group.
All our deer have been ringed for identification - In my data sheet she would be called simply #902 - Madame Rouge is so much nicer.

On the 14th of July all the other calves were one week old and only Madame Rouge left to observe. The 14th of July is the important national holiday in France with fireworks everywhere - I decided that this would be reason enough to justify a visible hole in the dataset and to sneak away from my observations. I drove  to L a  R o c h e  P o s a y to watch the fireworks over the River.

Over the course of July this turned into...

this.

At the end of the world

I have always taken it for granted that scientific articles in PDF format just appear immediately when you click them.
Just researching some literature - watching the countdown of seconds when downloading PDFs in the office - Yes, I am at the end of the world.
