Hunting for the Puma

A while ago, I started searching for the Puma, but gave up. Then one day, walking along Ruthven Lane, not even thinking of it - I spotted it.

From "Public Sculptures of Glasgow":
Dating from 1902-1903; on the rear of 13 Ruthven Street facing Ruthven Lane; heavily concealed by trees, the relief panel is inserted between a pair of windows on the second storey of the otherwise undecorated rear wall of a tenement building. The animal is vividly characterised, and is shown with a snarling expression, as if stalking its prey. Despite engaging the attention of numerous local researchers over the years, the presence of the carving on the building remains an enigma. It does not appear on any of the architect's plans.
